The whole-house package, in real numbers
A new build needs cabinets in more rooms than a remodel. Budget for the kitchen first, then the supporting rooms.
- Kitchen: around $8,000 for an average layout in our spec (plywood boxes, dovetail drawers, soft close, factory-finished doors).
- Primary bath and secondary baths: vanities typically add $1,500 to $5,000 depending on count and size.
- Laundry, mudroom, and built-ins: another $1,500 to $4,000 depending on scope.
- Whole-house total, typical 2,500 sq ft build: around $19,000 for the full cabinet package.
Who buys the finishes on a new build
On most new construction in the Saint Louis metro, the builder frames the house and the homeowner selects and purchases the kitchen and bath finishes. Builders in this market generally do not quote cabinets, countertops, or flooring, and they do not run a finish showroom.
That means you are the buyer. You pick the door style, the layout, the countertop slab, and the flooring, and you coordinate delivery timing with your builder or trim carpenter. We are built around that homeowner, and we walk you through every choice at the Saint Charles showroom or over emailed floor plans.
How the dealer-cost savings work on new construction
Buying your cabinets through STL Cabinetry is what unlocks dealer-cost pricing on countertops and flooring. You buy the counters directly from our local fabricator partner at their wholesale rate, and the flooring comes through us at our distributor cost. We take no margin on either.
- Countertops: the same Taj Mahal quartzite that showrooms price at $130 to $150 per sq ft is about $70 per sq ft at our dealer cost.
- Flooring: a CoreTec-equivalent luxury vinyl plank that retails around $11.69 per sq ft is about $3.09. On 2,000 sq ft that alone saves roughly $17,200.
- On a full new build, the combined counter and floor savings commonly reach up to $30,000, which can exceed the cabinet bill itself.
Timing it with your build
Cabinets should land after drywall and paint, when the space is clean and dry. We hold your order at our Saint Louis facility at no charge while framing, drywall, and trim run their course, then hand deliver on the day your build is ready.
We do not install. Your trim carpenter or general contractor sets the cabinets; we coordinate delivery, countertop template, and flooring drop directly with whoever is doing the install so nothing sits in the garage.
